APTIM Engineering Intern in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Job Overview:

We are seeking an Intern to work in the Baton Rouge, LA office. Candidate will undertake a variety of technical and administrative tasks to support ongoing civil engineering activities. Candidate will be provided with adequate supervisory direction to fully engage and understand the concepts, purpose and relevance of the work being performed. Most activities will be office-based; no field work is currently anticipated. Nature of the work provided to Candidate is subject to observed proficiency and project needs. Position will provide Candidate with a variable workload, subject to daily/weekly available hours. Other duties may be required

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, assist in development of project design basis, assist in development of specifications, and assist in performance of detailed engineering.

  • Assist with the general coordination and preparation of documents, presentations, and general client submittals.

  • Provide support to engineering and management staff.

  • Provide general office administrative support.

  • Conducting junior-level field engineering work to include but not limited to tracking document preparation, progress, etc.

  • Will have opportunity to work with Senior Engineering Staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering program; working towards B.S. Degree in Engineering.

  • Works on straightforward tasks using established procedures; all work will be subject to review by others.

  • Familiar with MS Excel and Word programs. Eager to develop skills in each program to meet presentation and submittal requirements.

  • Depends on others for instruction, guidance and direction.

  • Develops knowledge and skills in basic practices and procedures within own area.

  • Applies basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work.

  • Solves routine problems by following defined procedures.

  • Manages own time to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Works with others as part of a team.
