Job Overview:

APTIM, a leading engineering firm with a global presence and a thriving Coastal Engineering practice, is pleased to announce an immediate opening for an Entry to Mid-level Coastal Engineer for government clients in our Boca Raton, FL office. The APTIM team is multidisciplinary with coastal engineering, restoration, and coastal and marine science services specializing in all aspects of beach nourishment, shoreline protection projects, coastal and marine mapping, and coastal resiliency and sea-level rise work. APTIM's engineers, biologists, geologists, surveyors, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialists work with both government and private clients on a wide range of environmental and coastal issues.

APTIM is seeking a motivated, dynamic, and personable coastal engineer with experience in beach renourishment, inlet management studies, coastal structures, living shorelines, and coastal resiliency Opportunities beyond the previous list may also be possible. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Strong quantitative skillsets to support coastal/waterfront projects, including beach nourishment and/or coastal structures.

  • Independently conduct engineering analyses and apply coastal engineering tools for the design and formulation of resilient coastal protection projects.

  • Contribute to project teams in conducting the design process for engineering projects from conceptual design to detailed final designs.

  • Prepare standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications, and other technical documents.

  • Participate in business development activities and write proposals.

  • Coordinate work with other coastal engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline and with support services staff.

  • Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys, and construction observations.

  • Interpret contract documents and perform contract administration.

  • Manage individual tasks and small projects while also working collaboratively as part of a team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Independently manage multiple project schedules and deliverables

  • Professionally communicate with clients

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Coastal or Civil Engineering required.

  • EI Certification or ability to obtain it, with plans to pursue Professional Engineer license.

  • 0-6 years of relevant experience.

  • AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience.

  • Familiar with coastal processes modeling and hydraulic software.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse data sets.

  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills in designing projects.

  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English.

  • Have a passion for working in a consulting firm environment on various types of projects.

  • Willingness to travel in support of business and project activities.

  • Preferred office location is Boca Raton, FL.
