APTIM Construction Manager in Kincardine, Ontario

Job Overview:

APTIM is currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to add to its Canadian Services Power Group team. The Construction Manager will be part of APTIM's leadership team and be responsible for overall strategic and operational responsibility in providing safe, reliable and effective construction services at one of Canadian's largest Nuclear Utility.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provides robust management and governance that promotes the on- time, on budget, safe and event free successful project execution.

  • Experience in working with building trades and executing work in a complex unionized provincial environment.

  • Possesses solid credentials in construction theory, systems, practices, and methodologies including nuclear system, structure and component criticality.

  • Demonstrates through words and actions an example of proper nuclear behaviors while developing and growing a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.

  • Provides direction, coordination and coaching of APTIM's workforce accountable for the project's lifecycle deliverables from planning to closeout.

  • Ensuring that compliance with Environmental and Health & Safety regulations will be maintained so that APTIM will conduct its business with honesty and honor to promote the safety and security of people while preserving the environment and maintaining quality.

  • Represent APTIM at meetings, briefings and conferences with officials of labor, provincial, and/or local authority.

  • Ensures the construction program will be constantly aligned with the project management plan and supports in a collaborative way the overall strategy and business plan objectives of APTIM and its clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CSA N286-05 - Canadian Standard Association's "Management Systems Requirements for Nuclear Power Plants" is desirable.

  • Extensive experience in warranting high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility through construction project execution.

  • A collaborative leader, who ensures the organization is comprised of diverse, knowledgeable, qualified, capable and proficient team members empowered and accountable to identify and proactively address early signs of decline taking aggressive action to close performance gaps.

  • Leadership skills in communications, negotiation, conflict resolution and complex stakeholder interfaces (e.g.- user/owner, sponsor, client, local authorities).

  • 10+ years in a senior Construction Management role is necessary. At least 5 years' within a safety critical environment such as a nuclear licensed site.

  • Demonstrable record of delivering construction projects to the expected scope, quality, schedule and budget expectations.

  • University degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field is desired.

  • PMP and Construction "Gold Seal" certification is an asset.
