APTIM Assistant Project Manager in San Diego, California

Job Overview:

The APTIM Federal Services, LLC team is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join an existing project team for a site at Hunter's Point in San Francisco, California. They will be responsible for management of all phases of project activities that range from small to large in value and a variety of scopes that include engineering, procurement, construction and /or operations. Directs preparation of work plans, supervises project teams, and manages project scope, budget and schedule. This position will be part of an operations team and will work on specialized projects.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Document management to include producing, reviewing and tracking submittals and RFIs

  • Assist in preparing and updating all assigned project schedules, including subcontractors and material deliveries

  • Assist in pre-construction activities including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review and assembly of final project budget

  • Attend and participate in project meetings.

  • Inspect documents for accuracy against project drawings and specifications

  • Assist in identifying conflicts and work to find and implement solutions

  • Help to enforce the company safety and quality standards

  • Produce status reports

  • Responsible for all phases of planning and execution on small projects as defined by low potential risk, complexity, manpower requirements and/or contract value

  • May have responsibility for multiple projects.

  • Monitors and implements project safety and quality programs.

  • Supervises daily activities of project personnel including technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Physical Science or Construction Technology/Management is preferred.

  • Experience related to building construction and renovation is preferred.

  • Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work.

  • Understands relationships between work processes and the business.

  • Is aware of costs related to own work.

  • Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Communicates information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

  • Builds team effectiveness skills within own work team.

  • Proficient in MS Office with emphasis in Microsoft Excel
